Wolrds Greatest Brother

The Worlds Greatest Brother (that would be my brother) met up with me after the conference this evening. After picking me up and driving to Lincoln Park we had dinner and drinks. It was good to see him again.

Family is so very important. No matter where you go, or what you do, you will never meet another group of people outside of your siblings who will get the jokes you get as well. None will ever have that sense history or value systems as much as them.

So we stopped by his house on the way back to my hotel. He wanted to take me for a spin in his new car – a 1989 Pontiac station wagon that is nearly the same as the one we both grew up and took driver training in. It was great to roll down the windows as we cruised down Michigan Avenue.

We had taken the same trip in the summer of 1988. The first was in a little Toyota when we found an apartment for him to move here. The second time was with mom in the Pontiac wagon when we moved all of his things here after college. It was a hot summer day. We started out early on a Saturday morning. He drove us out, we unpacked, went to KFC for dinner, and I drove mom and I home in the wagon. I was such a teenage asshole that trip – lord forgive me.

But he made it, safe and sound. He lives here still. I am very proud of him for making a great life and buying this mint condition 1989 Pontiac station wagon for one more great memory.

  1. A group of people from work. But they didn't realize they had won something to be with me.
