If it wasn’t this, it would be something else

A few years ago the most sour and outspoken of the program developers decided to tell me how unhappy he was with the activities of the fun event I had programmed for our day long corporate outing. While others laughed and frolicked in the apple orchard, playing games, and drinking beer, his cutting comments about the cheep and twisted propaganda tactics of corporate sunshine burning his ass were expressed to me. I remember that day well.

So after Tuesday’s announcement of the completion of our company purchase of another that had been in the works for months, and yesterdays announcement that we were now being purchased by another bigger company to make us the 10th largest software company in the world, I sit and look at my new corporate wallpaper filled with the Photoshop happy faces of my new comrades, I think of that day, as he walks past my cube. I could hear the anger under his breath about the happy shiny people he now has to look at on his corporate wall paper and I think of my response to his unkind words that day a few years ago, “It could be worse.” To which he said “I don’t see how.” But you and I both take delight in knowing that it could be. If it wasn’t this, it would be something else.

  3. Oh my gosh! I am so in love with that video it is not even funny. It reminds me so much of my couch gymnastics routine and my Fame! fantasy in college.
